Abstract

The term Abhinaya has proliferous meaning in the discipline of Performing Arts. This manuscript discusses the manifestation of abhinaya in the classical repertoire of Sattriya dance and Manipuri dance. How do both the classical dances of India belonging to the North East region differ in their characters? This paper mainly focuses on the sattvika abhinaya of both forms, where Bhakti rasa plays an important role. The author tries to bring out a comparison in both forms in respect of abhinaya in special reference to sattvika abhinaya.
